Pokémon Sun (ポケットモンスターサン) and Pokémon Moon (ポケットモンスタームーン) were officially announced for release on the 20th Anniversary Pokémon Direct by Tsunekazu Ishihara (President and CEO of The Pokémon Company) on the 27th of February, 2016.

 

All games are playable in nine languages including Japanese, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The games will be compatible with Pokémon Bank. In addition to regular storage, Pokémon Sun and Moon can receive Pokémon from both the Virtual Console releases of the Generation I games and the Generation VI games.

On May 10th, 2016 Pokémon introduced three new starters for the upcoming games, including the first ever Grass-Flying starting type, the owl Rowlet, with Fire type Litten, and Water type Popplio. On the same date the boxart was also unveiled, with two new mascot Pokémon appearing on the artwork front covers.

 

It wasn't until June 2nd, that confirmation of Solgaleo and Lunala came. New moves such as Leafage, Moongeist Beam and Sunsteel Strike have since been announced. Along with brand new abilities such as Shadow Shield and Full Metal Body, making these games unique from all previous generations of Pokémon. A special 3DS LL version for Sun & Moon will be released on day of launch in Japan. More merchandise has been added since the special 3DS announcement. (Reference Sun & Moon Merchandise here)

Things to do as Daily Events

Melemele Activities

  • Play the Loto - Visit the tourist bureau in Hau'oli City and talk to the receptionist to draw a Loto Ticket once each day.
  • Fill up on the battle - Satisfy your hunger for battle at the Battle Buffet in Hau'oli City Shopping Mall. You can battle there once per day.

 

Akala Activities

 

  • Challenge Morimoto - Once you're Champion, you can visit GAME FREAK's office in Heahea City and take on Morimoto once per day.
  • Get a Message - Talk to the lady next to the incense vendor in Konikoni City, and she'll give your Pokemon a free lomi lomi message once each day.
  • Earn some cash - Work as a Pyukumuku chucker on Hano Beach anytime you need to line your pockets. You can complete this job once a day.

 

Poni Activities

 

  • Reap rewards from the Battle Tree - Earn daily rewards from the Battle Tree based on your performance from the previous day.

 

Poké Pelago Activities

 

  • Give and receive Beans - Send out a Bean Bottle each day, hope to get one in return, and shake loose some Poké Beans on Isle Abeens.

 

Festival Plaza Activities

 

  • Get your tickets - Chat with the woman in front of the castle to receive three free Festival Tickets each day for missions.

 

Anywhere Activities

 

  • Visit a Cafe - Order a drink at a Pokemon Center's cafe and the barista wil give you a special treat and some Poké Beans once per day.
  • Serve up a Malasada - Buy a Big Malasada once per day at each of the malasada shops on Melemele, Akala and Ula'ula Islands.
  • Bag some berries - Berries can be harvested from the base of Berry trees all around Alola each day. And get a Berry a day at the Thrify Megamart.
  • Use the QR scanner - Use your QR scanner each day in search of new Pokédex data. You earn one QR Code scan every two hours, until you reach the maximum of 10 scans.

Pokémon Sun and Moon Anime (ポケットモンスター サン&ムーンアニメ) was officially announced via the October 2016 edition of CoroCoro magazine. The first official (Trailer Short⬈) was uploaded on September 15th, along with the first teaser poster. The second trailer short was uploaded on October 14th, and was the first official upload of the anime artwork.

 

  • Japanese Air Debut November 17th, 2016.

 

Style : A fresh animation style for the Anime is extremely apparent, with protagonist Ash Ketchum and Pikachu getting a different style of animation compared with previous generations of Pokémon.

 

Plot : Ash Ketchum visits the Alola region, where he attends school for the first time. The first section of the first teaser trailer shows Sophocles, Kiawe, Mallow, and Lillie as also being school students under regional professor, Professor Kukui.
