Officially announced for release on the 20th Anniversary Pokémon Direct by Tsunekazu Ishihara (President and CEO of The Pokémon Company) on the 27th of February, 2016.
All games are playable in nine languages including Japanese, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The games will be compatible with Pokémon Bank. In addition to regular storage, Pokémon Sun and Moon can receive Pokémon from both the Virtual Console releases of the Generation I games and the Generation VI games.
On May 10th, 2016 Pokémon introduced three new starters for the upcoming games, including the first ever Grass-Flying starting type, the owl Rowlet, with Fire type Litten, and Water type Popplio. On the same date the boxart was also unveiled, with two new mascot Pokémon appearing on the artwork front covers.
It wasn't until June 2nd, that confirmation of Solgaleo and Lunala came. New moves such as Leafage, Moongeist Beam and Sunsteel Strike have since been announced. Along with brand new abilities such as Shadow Shield and Full Metal Body, making these games unique from all previous generations of Pokémon. Pokémon Sun and Moon Anime (ポケットモンスター サン&ムーンアニメ) was officially announced via the October 2016 edition of CoroCoro magazine. The first official (Trailer Short⬈) was uploaded on September 15th, along with the first teaser poster. The second trailer short was uploaded on October 14th, and was the first official upload of the anime artwork.
Style : A fresh animation style for the Anime is extremely apparent, with protagonist Ash Ketchum and Pikachu getting a different style of animation compared with previous generations of Pokémon.
Plot : Ash Ketchum visits the Alola region, where he attends school for the first time. The first section of the first teaser trailer shows Sophocles, Kiawe, Mallow, and Lillie as also being school students under regional professor, Professor Kukui.
