Pokémon Ultra Sun (ポケットモンスター ウルトラサン)
Pokémon Ultra Moon (ポケットモンスター ウルトラムーン)
Officially announced on the 6th of June, 2017 as part of the Nintendo hosted Pokémon Direct by Tsunekazu Ishihara.
All games are playable in nine languages including Japanese, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The games will be compatible with Pokémon Bank. In addition to regular storage, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon can receive Pokémon from both the Virtual Console releases of the Generation I and II (When released on VC) games and the Generation VI games.
On May 10th, 2016 Pokémon introduced three new starters for the upcoming games, including the first ever Grass-Flying starting type, the owl Rowlet, with Fire type Litten, and Water type Popplio. On the same date the boxart was also unveiled for Sun and Moon, with two new mascot Pokémon appearing on the artwork front covers (Solgaleo and Lunala). The same starters will appear in the games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.
Two brand new forms resembling Solgaleo and Lunala were revealed in the first ever trailer. These forms are reminiscent of the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma, first revealed in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. These games will feature new Pokémon, as well as bringing the player an expanded adventure for the Alola Region.
The first event for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was revealed in the July issue of CoroCoro. The Ash Cap Pikachu 'Movie 20' event is to be distributed via QR code through a Pokémon Ga-Olé disc.
In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, a new story unfolds featuring Necrozma alongside the Legendary duo. Ominous dark clouds begin to spread and the secrets of Necrozma and the Alola region, which were never disclosed in the previous games, will finally come to light.
English names for information that was revealed in CoroCoro have been announced. When Necrozma takes over Solgaleo, it becomes Dusk Mane Necrozma, which is featured on the cover of Pokémon Ultra Sun; when it takes over Lunala, it becomes Dawn Wings Necrozma, which is featured on the cover of Ultra Moon.
New Z Moves :
Kommo-o knowing the move Clanging Scales is given a piece of the exclusive Z-Crystal Kommonium Z to hold, it will be able to use the Dragon-type Z-Move Clangorous Soulblaze.
Its additional effects are extremely powerful, raising the user's Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed all by one stage. And this surprising move is the first Z-Move to be able to attack all opponents when battling against multiple Pokémon.
Lycanroc has also been confirmed as a new Pokémon to be able to utilise Z Moves. All 3 forms can use the Z Move Splintered Stormshards which can only be used if the move Stone Edge is in the moveset. (See Lycanroc Z Move Artwork)
The Rockruff event downloaded to your game changes depending on your game version. If you play Ultra Sun, it will know the move Tackle, Bite, Fire Fang, Happy Hour. If you play Ultra Moon, it will know the moves Tackle, Bite, Thunder Fang, Happy Hour. Both are Level 10 and come with a Focus Band attached. Only this Rockruff can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc, once evolved in the game after level 25 between the times of 17:00pm-17:59pm.
Photon Geyser is a Psychic-type special move that only Necrozma can learn. This attack engulfs the target in a pillar of light and compares the user’s Attack and Sp. Atk stats, dealing damage to the opponent according to whichever is higher. Necrozma can also learn this move when it is in Dusk Mane form or Dawn Wings form. Alongside this new move, Solgaleo and Lunala will receive the exclusive Z-Moves Searing Sunraze Smash and Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom, respectively.
Searing Sunraze Smash is a new Steel-type Z-Move that can be used if you have a Solgaleo that knows Sunsteel Strike hold the exclusive Z-Crystal Solganium Z. This attack damages a target while ignoring any effects of the target’s Ability. Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom is a new Ghost-type Z-Move that can be used if you have a Lunala that knows Moongeist Beam hold the exclusive Z-Crystal Lunalium Z. As with Searing Sunraze Smash, this attack also damages a target while ignoring any effects of the target’s Ability. A Necrozma that knows Sunsteel Strike or Moongeist Beam and is holding the corresponding Z-Crystal will also be able to unleash Searing Sunraze Smash or Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom!
Changes from Sun and Moon :
The way the player encounters their starter Pokémon differs from Pokémon Sun and Moon. There are new areas in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, including a "beach where surfers gather" and a "valley of Pikachu". A Mantine appears in the trailer in a Ride Pokémon harness, which indicates it is a new Ride Pokémon in these games. Rockruff's Alola Pokédex number is now 126, being 103 in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Also, there are new clothing items available for the player in these games, including the Pikachu Cap.
In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, Ultra Wormholes were strange pockets of space that mysteriously appeared throughout the Alola region and were shrouded in mystery. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, these Ultra Wormholes return and players can ride on the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala to travel through them to reach the various worlds that lie beyond. Players can visit many different worlds via these Ultra Wormholes—including Ultra Megalopolis! The world of Ultra Megalopolis is a place that has had its light stolen by Necrozma. Within this world, a mysterious tower-like building shines with brilliant light but whatever waits at the top of this structure is currently unknown.
In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon players will meet the Ultra Recon Squad, a strange group that have come from a world that lives beyond an Ultra Wormhole. Players will see the story told from different perspective in each version of the game, with Dulse and Zossie playing a central role in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Soliera and Phyco taking that role in Pokémon Ultra Moon. The Ultra Recon Squad bring with them a new Ultra Beast—UB Adhesive.
Team Rainbow Rocket :
The boss of Team Rainbow Rocket is none other than Giovanni, who was also the boss of the villainous organization known as Team Rocket in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, the first games in the Pokémon series.
Giovanni has gathered into one group the bosses from the various past games in the Pokémon series! You and your allies will have to square off against what might be your greatest challenge yet!
